Rasa Istimewa is one of our favourite places to go for dinner after a session of workout at the Pasir Ris playground.
The halal restaurant serves an array of affordable zi-char options which are mostly delicious based on our experience. Surrounded by beautiful greenery and charming sea view, we thoroughly enjoyed our dinner each time we dined there.
Some of the dishes we tried
I like it that the satay did not taste salty, and it was easy to chew on, even for my toddlers. This dish is definitely a hit amongst my kids and will be our repeated order.
The flavourful deep-fried baby octopus was really crunchy. The sweet-and-sour sauce was well-made but a tad too spicy for me. Erm, I can’t tolerate spicy food very well.
Salted egg chicken that went very well with the kids.
We always order comforting staples to go with the side dishes. Rice and noodles, there are many varieties to choose from. Especially for the noodles, you can ask for hor fun style, fried with sambal, tom yum, clear soup, etc.
The photos below show fish vermicelli hong kong style and seafood hor fun hong kong style.
March 2021
It was impossible for our family of 6 to dine in most restaurants in 2020 as a result of the Covid-19 restrictions which the restaurants had to comply with.
Come Phase 3, we were one of the happiest family, I believe.
I found the BBQ fish in the photo below a little to dry and though the sambal sauce was superb. It was super spicy though, and none of my kids could tolerate the sauce.
The spicy mee goreng was flavourful and fragrant, and surprisely my 11 yo boy enjoyed it very much. A dish my hubby will order again.
Grass jelly with longan/soursop drink. Our standard order every time we dine there.
