We would dine in Seng Kee a couple of times a year. It is one of the famous eateries that most food lovers already know. Seng Kee started 50 years ago when Mr Seng Kee sold Black Chicken Herbal Soup as a roadside hawker. Seng Keng is famous for its Black Chicken Herbal Soup, Kidney Mee Sua and Zi Char. Before kids arrive and mess up our peaceful and quiet life, we patronize the eatery regularly for dinner after work and would often select our fresh raw fish for a plate of piping hot Teochew-style steamed fish.
Post-COVID, Seng Kee is the first few eating places where we brought our kids to. We selected their table located at their airy corner unit. Since it was just the 6 of us (2 adults and four kids), we ordered some simple and kid-friendly dishes to fill our stomachs.
Kidney Mee Sua
This is a typical dish that we will order. The flavorful thick herbal soup warmed me up immediately, yet the herbal taste did not taste repulsive to my kids. My little one filled her rice bowl with soup before gobbling down her dinner. The lean meat was super tender and easy to chew on for the little ones. The kidney pieces remained crunchy with no lingering stench of organ parts that you may find from some other pig organ dishes.
Other Side Dishes to go along
Broccoli cooked to the right crunchiness, though it would be easier for me to serve the little kids if the chef cooked the dish a little while more.
Crunchy sweet and sour pork with the right sweetness. I will love to have more pineapple in the dish.
We all love this, Fried Beancurd with Pork Floss, the first dish to get snapped up.
Pan-fried Egg with Oyster – another staple of ours, no complaint.

Going There
The eatery is located within walking distance of Kembangan MRT station.
Parking space is very limited. So if you drive, book a table earlier in the evening to get yourself a convenient parking space. Also, note that the restaurant has a parking arrangement with the temple across the road that you can utilize.
