Family-themed learning activities for our 3-year-old tots this month
A DYI whiteboard to introduce vocabulary related to our family, both in English and Mandarin.
Other than highlighting the beginning phonic sounds and alphabets for these words, we matched the words to the corresponding people. They liked the activity, and we did that for many mornings.
Last month, I introduced the spelling for some simple weather-themed words in both English and Mandarin. However, the family-themed terms involved this month are too complicated, thus I decided to give the spelling exercise a miss.
Craft Activities
Some family-themed crafts that involved cut-and-paste. While the tots could independently cut the larger pieces, picking out the correct size for the relevant person in the family was a challenge for them.
Thus we carried out more similar activities to further improve their spatial ability.

Our Favourite Family Song
“I Love You” by Barney. We sing them every day.
Lyrics
I love you, you love me
We’re a happy family
With a great big hug
And a kiss from me to you
Won’t you say you love me too?
I love you, you love me
We’re best friends like friends should be
With a great big hug
And a kiss from me to you
Won’t you say you love me too?
