Media Invite
LITE-UP Sustainability Night Festival 2019 will be happening on 28 December 2019 in the Sustainable Singapore Gallery. There will be super fun programs revolving around sustainability and climate change.
Take insta worthy photos with the beautiful light installation; upcycle a bottle into a beautiful lamp; upcycle Christmas Ornaments; enter the pitch-dark chilling escape room to solve riddles and overcome challenges to travel back to prevent a climate disaster.
Night at the Gallery Eco-Escape Room
We brought the kids to attend the media preview of the Night at the Gallery Eco-Escape Room. It was a thrilling and educational experience for both the young and old.
Before our adventure began, the organiser sat us down for a program preview, including safety precautions. Although there is nothing dangerous about the program, the organiser wanted to ensure that all participants play the game safely while enjoying the search. We were also given two torches and a map of the Sustainable Singapore Gallery to facilitate our hunt for clues around the place. The briefing and the quest took approximately an hour.
Honestly, the gallery was not entirely pitch-dark. It was manageable for our kids though, for some light-sensitive children, parents may have to think twice before joining the game. With light sources from facilitators who carried torches and aesthetic LED lights near some of the installations, finding our way in the dark was not too challenging.
In a team of 4 to 8 members, we were required to go through 4 stations. Once we succeed in each station, we were given a number. The 4 numbers collected would be the correct year to travel back to.
Looking for clues
Not an easy task to search for clues in a dark environment.
Solving puzzles
MOE has an excellent job of educating our kids on sustainability and energy-saving tips. They unravelled most of the mysteries which we couldn’t and brought us to the next station.
Did we sort the recyclable items correctly?
We got so many items wrong! There are common misperceptions to the recyclability of used items. We tried this sorting activity and realised that we were very wrong in many ways.
The facilitator followed up with a detailed and educational session of explanation. Recycling the right items to avoid contaminating the blue recycle bin is an art. We should all put in the effort to learn the correct ways of recyclable materials. Check out this link by zerowastesg.com. We have so much more to learn when it comes to recycling.
We managed to complete only 3 stations and still figure out the critical year to make a difference to the world!
