We drove up Mon Jam late in the morning from the nearby Mori Natural Farm. The ride took us less than 30 minutes.
There are two outlook points on Mon Jam, the highest point in Mae Rim. We could see a whole stretch of green on one side.
On the other side, it used to be rice terraces but now converted to tents. The charm, though lesser than before, is still captivating.
It was definitely worth the drive up to Mon Jam to soak in the gorgeous view on the top of the mountain. October to January is said to be the best time to visit.
We paid a token (THB15 or THB5?) to enter the privately-managed garden. There are a few gardens there, each decorated with different flowers.
Under noon’s relentless sun, we could admire the stunning view in front of us. But I would really suggest to either protect your skin with lots of sun-block, a UV protection umbrella or at minimal a big hat that can cover your entire face.
We did nothing to protect ourselves. Thus, we suffered terrible rashes from sunburn for the rest of our trip.
The entrance to Mon Jam was filled with stalls selling souvenirs, clothes, ice-cream and fruits.
Fruits in Thailand are fabulous. We always enjoy overeating fruits in Thailand. In Khao Yai, we devoured a humungous honey mango that cost us only S$1. In Chiang Mai, the avocadoes are huge and inexpensive. The ones we ate riped very nicely and were even mildly juicy. Unlike those we buy in the Singapore supermarket that never ever ripe beautifully.
