Hubby did his research on what to eat after our Legoland Malaysia adventure. See my earlier post here for our Legoland experience.
However, his plan did not materialise as the restaurant was unexpectedly closed. In the end, we had to rely on recommendations from the local taxi driver. It turned out the driver gave an excellent suggestion, and we enjoyed a delectable dinner.
The zi-char coffee shop is known as New Chua Kee Restuarant. Although it is not air-conditioned, the interior was bright and airy, spacious and clean. The washroom was bearable too. If you know Malaysia’s toilet standard, you know what I mean.
Chilli Crabs
It seemed like the restaurant is well-known for their seafood because we observed many tables around us were eating crabs. We ordered chilli crab, minimum of two crabs for the same favour. The flavour did not disappoint, and the crab flesh is firm and fresh. The accompanying fried buns are fragrant and gobbled down by the kids.
There are other varieties of sauce available for the crabs including but not limited to black pepper, salted eggs and butter sauce.
Bee Hoon
The aromatic and savoury Bee Hoon dish was the kids’ favourite. Perhaps they realised they were hungry after a day’s fun in Legoland and wolfed down their noodles.
Ginger Clams
We have not seen this dish in Singapore before. Since it is unique to us, we gave it a try. Although the dish tasted dry and spicy, the overall texture of the meal was excellent.
Cereal Prawns
The prawns were nicely cooked, and the shells were not stuck to the prawn meat, signifying that the kitchen had selected fresh prawns for this dish. I am satisfied.
Honeyed Chicken Wing
Another kids’ dish! The wings were sweet and were devoured by the table of hungry guests.
Sticky Coffee Ribs
Other than the mild coffee aroma that accompanied the dish, the meat was crispy on the outside, tender on the inside. We liked this dish so much that we bought a packet home for my mum’s supper.
Both the tofu and the vegetable dishes were yummy too—nothing to complain.
Total Damage for this meal, including juices and soft drinks was MYR80+ per person.
Hubby said the food quality is fantastic and he is going to bring our family there to eat again.
